Becoming Clint

In Back to the Future, Part III, Marty McFly goes back in time to the Wild West. When some folk in a bar ask his name, he says "Clint Eastwood", acting like a canonical cowboy from the movies, but of course he finds it hard living up to the reality (or even the movie version, especially ironic since it's a movie in a movie sort of thing), and has to learn the practical aspects. So eventually after bumbling along he becomes Clint.

Learning is not a process that you can remove, yet the shame of asking questions is still very strong amongst many people. Not being able to separate ignorance from a desire to learn is a kind of ignorance itself.

I lifted this pattern from Javier Candeira.
