This site hosts the ephemera of Sean B. Palmer and
friends. There are thousands of files here, from essays on bolides to programs
and more, some of the highlights of which are shown below. Or maybe you'd like
to find out more about inamidst.
Software Packages
- n3proc - a Notation3 parser suite in Python, including
n3pp.py, which is a Notation3 normaliser. Generates
a program based on the official RDF BNF input for Notation3. Now included in
both the 4Suite and rdflib RDF packages.
- Phenny - a popular IRC bot written in Python. She
runs on the Freenode IRC server amongst others, and has the usual features one
expects from an IRC bot, e.g. Wordnet and thesaurus lookups. She's modularly
extensible, and can reload modules on the fly.
- Other Code - random utilities in Python, Bash,
Javascript, and C. For example, programs to:
Plus many more of those bits of unix glue that all programmers write.
Literature & Antiquarianism
- Anomalous Luminous Phenomena - an introduction to
various forms of natural, but anomalous, light forms such as Will-o'-the-wisps,
earth lights, earthquake lights, and St. Elmo's fire. Contains
transcriptions of old materials on the subject, images, anecdotes, and
theories as to what the causes of these lights may be.
- What Planet is This? - random essays on historical
and linguistic matters by Sean B. Palmer. Where else could one find information
on the following matters all in one place?
What Planet is, hence, a smorgasbord of linguistics, astronomy, the paranormal,
trivia, and other general antiquarian nonsense lovingly researched and
presented.
- Notes About Shakespeare. The two most important
resources here at the moment are the Shakespearean
Chronology, which is getting quite long, and an essay about an Undiscovered Pun in King Lear.
Technology
- Atom Extensibility Framework - an alternate
serialisation of RDF in XML written for the Atom syndication format,
written with Ken MacLeod and Sjoerd Visscher.
- RSS 1.1 - an elegant and very cleanly specified
revision of RSS 1.0 in RDF/XML. Written with Christopher Schmidt and Cody
Woodard.
Services
- Change MIME Type - ever come across a page with a
broken MIME type? Seeing HTML as plain text? Images not working correctly? This
service allows you to correct those problems
- Reverse DNS - ever wonder what hostname a
particular IP is using? This service uses the dig unix program to find
out.

essays, code, documentation, images, and services, you should try the sitemap and the directory browser.
