Posterous and Tumblr

Because the Atom feed from Google Groups doesn't contain the whole of
each message sent to the group, I thought I'd try signing up to
posterous.com and tumblr.com to see if I could use their "post by
email" facility.

Unfortunately, neither work. I asked Posterous why, and they sent a
two line reply back saying that they don't accept email from mailing
lists. I haven't email Tumblr support, but I found that the same
characteristics applied there, i.e. only To and CC work. It's kinda
surprising that not even BCC works.

Perhaps there's some other mailing list to syndication feed service
out there? I'm surprised to some extent that these places don't allow
messages from mailing lists, but I suppose it makes sense since they
probably don't want to house conversational mailing list archives.

I've just tried wordpress.com, and that didn't work either. At least
Wordpress support BCC sending though.

I remember the very first weblog that I wrote was called Bring it on
Home, and it was hosted on a Radio Userland product. Aaron Swartz,
Morbus Iff, and Tav had weblogs there too, and we basically just used
it as a kind of extended IRC.

Aaron then had the good sense to make his own weblog. I think Morbus
had already been blogging for years anyway. I made five hundred
weblogs in five hundred different places after that, and I'm still
going. I should probably have just set up a Wordpress blog or
something and have been done with it. Wordpress probably wasn't even
around then, having said that, but who knows.

Hmm, what about alt.gallimaufry.of.verb.verb.verb...
