Tavtime is a kind of alternative datetime system, created by tav. Here's how it works:

  • 1 second = the usual definition of seconds
  • 1 minute = 60 seconds
  • 1 kin = 20 minutes
  • 1 avi = 18 kins
  • 1 raels = 20 avis

Every 4 raels there is a "no time zone" called yi, which lasts 21 kins. This is usually used as an excuse to partai, so if you check the Tavtime calendar and find that it's yi, it's time to boogie on down if you can.

Though we use Tavtime very sparingly, it often crops up in jokes and the like. For example, there's the idea of The Quadecavian Shaila, a shaila released every quad (4) * dec (10) * avis (18 kins), i.e. every ten days. Thus Tavtime is excellent for Espian jocularity!

As an example of how Tavtime is represented, it was 2694.0.8.0.49 at 10:40 BST on 2nd June 2007.
