In my own observations as well as those that have been shared with me by researchers like Erling Strand and Massimo Teodorani, the discussion invariably returns to the question "are these phenomena natural". I for one, cannot state that they are unequivocably "natural". There is a great deal of variation in the types and profiles of lights that we have seen at the sight I have been watching. Further, in discussions with other researchers like James Bunnel, I have found some intriguing commonalties involving these lights. For example, they sometimes come to, or leave the site.... Further, I have been examining the possible relationship between these phenomena and pilot reports of similar profiles that strongly suggest qualities of intelligence and advanced energy management. I am uncertain how one takes on the task of defining the behavior of a ball of light as "intelligent". That seems like a complicated problem. In his presentation to the 3rd EuroConference on SETI/SETV, Massimo Teodorani suggests rather strongly that these phenomena should be examined for the possibility that they might represent nonhuman technologies. The behavior of these lights is not consistent with what is known about light..... and, frankly, some of the activity I have seen at the site I have been watching is so strange that the possibility is rather glaring.... Thanks for the references, I will look them over. Do you have any further thoughts in this regard? Any ideas? Hi, Just subscribed to this list and have been looking through the archives. The US and Canadian Governments started "Project Magnet" in the 1950's to study areas where earth energy accumulates naturally, the area Project Magnet focused on was an area near Lake Ontario known as the Marysburgh Vortex. Hugh Cochrane documents some of the earth light activity in that area in his book "Gateway to Oblivion". Wilbert Smith, a Canadian communications engineer in the Department of Transportation, was director of the Canadian team of scientists involved in Project Magnet. One of Smith's top secret memos was declassified not too long ago, it's posted on the below web page. That suggests that the US considers this whole subject sensative and may be intensionally discouraging serious research in this area. Parts of that memo from the below web page writes: http://www.aufosg.com/page218.html "We believe that we are on the track of something which may well prove to be the introduction of new technology..... The matter is the most highly classified subject in the United States Government, rating even higher that the A-bomb......The entire matter is considered by the United States authorities to be of tremendous significance. I was further informed that the United States authorities are investigating along quite a number of lines which might possibly be related to the (unreadable) such as mental phenomena and I gather that they are not doing too well since they indicated that if Canada is doing anything at all in geo-magnetics they would welcome a discussion with suitably accredited Canadians."
