Adams" X-Yahoo-Group-Post: member; u=106036988 Hi Ted, You have made some excellent observations, however there is a mundane explanation for many of them. It appears you are describing the Chinati mountains 26 miles from the Marfa Lights Viewing area. There is a very twisty road that descends from the summit of this mountain near Shurly Ranch. There are many cuts and dips along this road. The net effect is that randomly spaced lights (cars) appear to descend slowly from left to right flashing, disappearing and reappearing as the car headlight angle changes and is blocked by the freqent dips and road cuts. The white lights are car headlights descending towards the MLVA, the red lights are tail lights climbing the mountain road. I too was very puzzled when I first videotaped this phenomenon. I drove the road and timed it. If you reveiw your tapes you will see the light motion to the right, descending, matches the timing of cars moving about 55-60 mph. The car headlights even appear to stack vertically near the top section of the road as it descends and turns. The observation of more frequent lights near sunset and sunrise could be commute traffic. This critique does not imply that the Marfa Lights are not real. It does mean that the Marfa observations are a mix of "real" and human activity. One has to be very careful in interpreting which are which if the phenomenon is ever to be understood. From your description it appears you may have also seen some "real" ones. Best to focus on those! Good luck! M.
